In this quick tutorial, we are looking at the goal system and how to create goals. You get to the goals from the left menu like so, and you can click on the add new goal. I’m going to collapse this menu right here so I can have a wider view port. I have two options at this point. I can copy and paste my goal parameters if you want to. So you would simply add in the goal name. If you have any key results that you want to add into the system, you most definitely can do that. Very important, however, you do need to have a deadline set up for your goal. In this case, I’m going to select the end of year deadline here. And then right over here where it says, assigned to another very important piece, you can assign it to of course, to yourself or to other members in your organization if you have the right permissions. (00:54): You can also assign it to teams. So for example, if you are a manager or a senior manager, you can assign it to teams that you manage. And then of course you’ve got the option to assign to the whole organization. And the permissions you see here depend on the type of user you are in the system. For the purposes of this, I’ll just assign it to myself since I am conducting this demo here. Now you can click on the see advanced options, or you can click right here where it says add goal. And the system would essentially add your goal. Now, please note that this is step one. We do need step one and step two to complete the goal set up, and step two is to add in key results. Okay, so remember, copy the key result into my clipboard. So here’s one key result, and I’ll go in and I’ll copy another key result here. (01:50): Alright, so click on that and copy another key result. Now, depending on how the goal is set up, if let’s say this was a team-based goal, I could actually go in here and assign these specific key results to specific people. Of course, in this case here, because this is my personal goal, I cannot assign it to anybody else in terms of key results, and we do have different videos on this, please note that the metric for the key results is super important. And so check out a video on that to be able to create your key results. So again, this is a simple goal where you have the goal name. You can of course have the goal description in the advanced setting area. And of course we’ve assigned it to ourselves. At this point, we’ve not associated this goal with any higher level goals. We call that cascaded. But if let’s say you wanted to, you can certainly link your goal to other goals that are already in the system to create a cascade.
